Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Wegovy/Ozempic)

Semaglutide, also known as Wegovy or Ozempic was approved by the FDA in June 2021. It has been used for type II diabetes since 2017. In studies, patient's noted a 15-18% decrease in their body weight, which is more than what has been seen with other weight loss medications. We recommend using this as a tool along with a healthy diet and exercise.

How Does Semaglutide Work for Weight Loss?

A GLP-1 is an incretin hormone that plays a role in your appetite and digestion. Incretins — hormones released by your digestive tract — are sent out by your body after you’ve eaten a meal. They help lower your blood sugar by triggering insulin release from the pancreas and blocking sugar production, helping with insulin resistance that can be affecting your ability to lose weight. They also slow down how quickly food leaves your stomach (called gastric emptying).

The result of these actions causes you to feel full — lowering your appetite and causing you to lose weight. Medications like GLP-1 agonists are referred to as incretin mimetics since they “mimic” these effects.

If you have been struggling to lose weight, this is just the tool you need to get the weight off. We have helped hundreds of patients over the last year and if you would like to book a consultation, please click this link below:

"I have suffered from Poly cystic Ovary syndrome (PCOS) almost my entire life. With that, it was not uncommon for me to fluctuate 5-10 lbs every morning when I weighed myself.  I was addicted to the scale. I lead a very active lifestyle and for the most part ate very well with the occasional drink and once a week sweet treat or pizza. When I found out I had PCOS,  I was working out twice a day preparing for my wedding and I started gaining weight. At first I contributed it to muscle gain, but then it started to show in a negative way on my body. I gained 50 lbs in one month! I was devastated, I could not for the life of me figure it out so I went to the doctor and that is when they did some lab work and told me about my condition. They immediately put me on Metformin and that was my daily meds for a very long time. I joined weight watchers, worked out and was able to get at least 30 lbs off of what I had gained but it was very hard work and a lot of salads and protein only. I couldn't even look at sweet treats. It was horrible. I did not want to live my life like this on meds and rabbit food. One day I visited Sara and she had just started offering Semaglutide and I was one of her very first patients to try the medication.  All I can say is I got my life back!  Within the first 4 months I went from 153 lbs to 121 lbs.  I continued to live my active lifestyle and eat well. BUT I got to have a cheat day every week and I don't regret it the next day. The scale never changes anymore and in fact, I rarely look at it, it is no longer an active participant in my life.  So, if you are struggling with PCOS, I really think Semaglutide is right for you! Get YOUR life back!"
